Triggers: when to go and when to stay
Write them down and have every adult sign them before anything happens. That way the decision doesn't depend on the fear of the moment or on what social media says.

| Breakdown of safety in the area with no police response | No confirmed destination, or not enough gas to get there without refueling |
| A medical need that can't be handled at home | Someone sick or injured who can't handle the trip |
Conditions for leaving, as well: route open, tank at 3/4 or more, destination confirmed by phone, and daylight.
