Routes and destinations: three, in different directions
Pick three destinations in three different directions, each with two routes. Write them in this table, on paper (chapter 24). If you live in San Antonio, your routes are in the local section.
| Destination | What it's for | Routes (two) | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Default | Close, small towns, far from targets | The normal choice | |
| 2. Alternate | In another direction | If route 1 is jammed | |
| 3. Family far away | Get out of the conflict area and reach a support network | Only with everyone's documents current |
- Avoid highways toward other big cities, ports and refineries: more people, more targets, fewer exits.
- Wind: in a nuclear scenario, move perpendicular to the wind, not just "away". Check the wind direction that day; don't assume it.
- Fixed rule: destination confirmed by phone before leaving, two routes per destination, paper maps and a full tank. Never count on finding gas on the way.
