Chapter 26 · Printable sheets · 12 min read
Printable appendices
Sheets to print, fill out by hand, and keep: one copy in the home kit, another in each 72-hour bag, and another in the car. Each appendix starts on a new page so you can pull it out and put it in a sheet protector. Write with a permanent ink pen or pencil; gel ink runs in water.
The essentials · if you only have a minute
- Fill out the Family Plan (Appendix A) today, with all the adults in the household present. A plan that is not filled out is useless.
- Cut out the contact card (Appendix B) and have each adult carry one in their wallet. A phone can run out of battery.
- Check the kit inventory (Appendix C) at least every 6 months and replace whatever is about to expire.
- Three of anything (whistle blasts, fires, flashes) means help. Arms in a "Y" = I need help.
- To disinfect water with unscented bleach: 8 drops per gallon (6%) or 6 drops (8.25%), wait 30 minutes (Appendix F).
- Tape the "If you only have 5 minutes" sheet (Appendix G) to the inside of the door of the closet where the kit is kept.
- In a crisis, write everything down with the time and source (Appendix H). Memory fails under stress.
