Seizures
- Stay calm and stay with the person. Time the seizure with your watch or phone.
- Protect them: if they fall, help them to the floor; move away hard or sharp objects; put something soft under their head; remove glasses and loosen anything tight around the neck.
- Turn them onto their side to keep the airway clear.
- Afterward: help them sit in a safe place, calmly explain what happened, and don't leave them alone until they are alert.
Call 911 if: it lasts more than 5 minutes, another seizure follows, the person has trouble breathing or doesn't wake up normally, they were injured, it happened in water, it is the first time, they have diabetes, or they are pregnant.
