Timing and daylight
- Ideal departure: 05:00–05:30. You reach the bridge when it opens (8:00), cross with the bridge empty, Monterrey ~11:30, Ciudad Victoria ~15:30, all in daylight.
- Fixed rule: no driving at night in Mexico. If you reach the border after 13:00, the day's goal is Monterrey (2.5 h from the crossing); Linares–Victoria is done the next day.
- If you leave San Antonio in the small hours (before 5:00), wait for sunrise on the U.S. side and cross first thing; never park in Nuevo Laredo to wait.
