24.14 Common mistakes
- Waiting to "see what happens" and leaving with everyone else, in the worst traffic.
- Having only one destination and one route.
- Waiting to fill the tank until the evacuation is announced.
- Loading the bulky items first and forgetting medicines or documents.
- Carrying gasoline in a cargo area open to the cabin, or in the cabin.
- Loose pets in the car, or pets that escape at a stop.
- Relying only on your phone's GPS.
- Stopping on the shoulder to wait for the other car in the convoy.
- Going back before the authorities allow it.
